Red-shanked douc in Son Tra Peninsular, Da Nang

Not far from a hustle & bustle of developing city – Da Nang, a number of Red-shanked douc is living in Son Tra peninsular. Protected and reserved in Peninsular, more than 1,000 individuals are believed to live in troops in the North part of Son Tra peninsular. . Red-shanked doucs are labeled ”endangered” animals on the Red List of Threatened Species. Apart from leaves, red-shanked doucs also consume bamboo shoots, seeds, flowers and fruit. This special species can be seen in the early morning and late afternoon while they are feeding on leaves in the trees.
