Settled down in SaiGon more than hundred years, the Chinese community has been built up a spectacular culture here. One of the most outstanding festivities is the Tet Nguyen Tieu – the first fullmoon of the lunar year. On this special day, people celebrate almost a full day at the assembly halls, temples and private houses. There are a lots of festivities started from the early morning to the late evening. During the day, colourful parades on the main downtown greeted to welcome a new year with variety flowers, offerings, fresh fruits, sumptuous fashions, lion and drangon dances. People visited the temples, assemblies to pray for their own and families. The belief of that the best coming year would bring to people a full year of Prosperity, Longevity, Luck, Love and Peace.
